Home of Heroes & Heritage ("we," "us," or "our") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in the State of Minnesota. Our Tax ID is 33-2498649. Our mailing address is 2688 Rice St., Unit #2121, Little Canada, MN 55113.

This Privacy Policy applies to our website located at www.homeofheroesandheritage.org (the "Site"), as well as any forms, email communications, or interactions you have with our organization. By accessing or using our Site, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

We collect information in two ways: information you give us directly, and information collected automatically when you visit our Site.

Information You Provide to Us

• Contact form submissions — your name, phone number, email address, ZIP code, and any message or description you provide when requesting help, volunteering, or inquiring about our services.
• Donation information — your name, billing address, email address, and payment details when you make a donation. Note: full payment card details are processed by our third-party payment processor and are never stored on our servers.
• Service applications — information about your home, the nature of repairs needed, and your status as a veteran or senior citizen, provided when you apply for our free repair services.
• Volunteer and partnership inquiries — your name, contact details, skills, availability, and organization information when you sign up to volunteer or partner with us.
• Email communications — any personal details you include when you email us directly.

Information Collected Automatically

• Usage data — pages visited, time spent on pages, referring URL, browser type, and device type, collected through standard web server logs and analytics tools.
• IP address — your general geographic location may be inferred from your IP address for analytics purposes only.
• Cookies — small data files stored in your browser to help the site function properly. See Section 5 for details.

We use the information we collect solely to operate our nonprofit mission and communicate with the people we serve. Specifically, we use your information to:

• Respond to contact form submissions, service requests, and inquiries in a timely and personal manner.
• Assess and process applications for our free home repair services.
• Coordinate volunteer schedules, project logistics, and partnership arrangements.
• Process and acknowledge donations and send tax receipts where applicable.
• Send email updates about our mission, upcoming projects, and opportunities to give or get involved — only when you have consented or initiated contact with us.

• Comply with legal obligations applicable to nonprofit organizations in Minnesota and under federal law.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We may share limited information only in the following circumstances:

• Service providers — trusted third-party vendors who help us operate our website and process donations (such as Squarespace for website hosting and payment processors for donations). These providers are contractually bound to use your information only as directed by us and not for their own purposes.
• Volunteers and contractors — when you apply for a repair, limited contact information may be shared with vetted volunteers or licensed contractors who will be performing the work, solely for project coordination.
• Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of our organization, our users, or others.
• Organizational partners — with your explicit consent only, we may share your information with a partner organization to help connect you with additional resources or assistance you have requested.

In all cases, we share only the minimum information necessary for the specific purpose.

Our website is built on Squarespace, which may place cookies in your browser to enable core site functionality, remember your preferences, and gather anonymous analytics data.

• Essential cookies — required for basic site functions such as navigation and form submission. These cannot be disabled without breaking the site.
• Analytics cookies — used to understand how visitors use our site (e.g., which pages are most visited). This data is aggregated and anonymous — it does not identify you personally.
• Third-party cookies — if you use a donation widget or embedded third-party tool on our site, those services may set their own cookies governed by their own privacy policies.

All financial transactions, including online donations, are processed through secure, industry-standard third-party payment processors. We do not store your full credit card number, debit card number, or bank account details on our servers at any time.

Our payment processors use SSL/TLS encryption and comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). We retain donation records (including name, amount, and date) for accounting and tax purposes as required by IRS rules governing 501(c)(3) organizations.

Our website and services are not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Our mission is to serve adult veterans and senior citizens.

If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information to us, please contact us immediately at jason@homeofheroesandheritage.org and we will promptly delete that information from our records.

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, or as required by applicable law:

• Contact and service request records — retained for up to 3 years from the date of last contact to allow for follow-up, project documentation, and organizational reporting.
• Donation records — retained for a minimum of 7 years as required by IRS guidance for nonprofit financial records.
• Volunteer records — retained for the duration of your active involvement plus 2 years after your last participation.
• Website analytics data — aggregated and anonymous data may be retained indefinitely for trend analysis; personally identifiable usage data is not retained.

When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it in a secure manner.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any third-party websites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any external site before submitting personal information. The presence of a link on our Site does not constitute an endorsement of that site's privacy practices.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or the services we offer. When we make changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page.
